Delivered as interactive workshops, sessions cover sharpening your in-water teaching style, handling tricky student situations, and building sustainable income through specialty teaching, grounded in what actually works in UK dive centres. You'll also earn seminar credit toward your PADI membership renewal.

About This Course
Becoming a PADI Instructor is not the finish line, it is the start of a career, and the Advanced Training Academy at Diving Academy exists to help you keep developing once your instructor card is in hand. Run by the shop's own Course Directors and delivered either face to face or online, it is a professional development programme built around real teaching technique and the practicalities of building a sustainable diving career.
Sessions are structured as workshops rather than lectures, covering areas such as refining your in-water teaching style, handling difficult student scenarios, marketing yourself effectively, and growing your income as an instructor through specialty teaching and course sales. Because it is run locally by experienced Course Directors, the content stays grounded in what actually works in UK dive centres rather than generic theory.
The Academy is open to certified teaching-status PADI Instructors, as well as instructors who are currently inactive or have relocated and want to get back up to speed, and IDC candidates looking for structured follow-up support after completing their IDC. Participating instructors also receive seminar credit for taking part, helping toward PADI membership renewal requirements.
It pairs naturally with Specialty Instructor ratings as a next step, and Diving Academy in Reading runs sessions regularly for instructors across the wider region.

How The Course Works
Step 1
Interactive Workshop Sessions
Led by an active PADI Course Director, the day runs as a hands-on workshop rather than a lecture - covering how to make the most of the Pros' Site and sharpen the way you run your business day to day. It is built for newly qualified instructors finding their feet, or anyone who has been away from teaching for a while.

Step 2
Sharper Rescue Diver & Divemaster Courses
You dig into what actually makes a Rescue Diver or Divemaster course land well with students, picking up practical techniques straight from a Course Director's own playbook. It rounds off with a session on risk management, so you leave more confident and better prepared, not just certified.
PADI states: core topics include conducting a successful Rescue Diver course, conducting a successful Divemaster course, and risk management and best practice.
