Master Freediving Instructor
This is not a course you study your way into, it's one you earn through years of real teaching. Our team reviews your teaching history and verifies everything before your application goes to PADI, treating it as the career milestone it genuinely is.
In detail
About This Course
The PADI Master Freediving Instructor rating is the pinnacle of the PADI freediving teaching pathway, reserved for Advanced Freediver Instructors who have built a substantial and proven record of certifying freedivers. It recognises genuine professional experience rather than introducing brand new skills, marking out instructors who have consistently delivered PADI Freediver programmes to a high standard.
To apply, candidates must hold a current Advanced Freediver Instructor rating, have issued at least fifty PADI Freediver-level certifications including a minimum of ten at Advanced Freediver level, hold current Master Freediver certification themselves, and maintain a current Emergency First Response Instructor rating so they remain equipped to respond to emergencies.
At Diving Academy, staff supporting a candidate through this milestone review teaching history, verify certification counts and confirm all currency requirements are met before submitting the application to PADI. It is as much an audit of a career in freediving instruction as it is a course.
Achieving Master Freediving Instructor status is a mark of real credibility within the freediving community, opening doors to further professional development and recognition among peers, students and fellow PADI Professionals.
The process
How The Course Works

Step 1
A Rating You Earn, Not Study For
There is no classroom here - this rating recognises instructors who have genuinely put the hours in. You need a substantial certification history as an Advanced Freediver Instructor along with a current EFR Instructor rating before you are even eligible to apply.
PADI states instructors must have issued at least 50 PADI Freediver certifications, including at least 10 Advanced Freediver certifications, to qualify.

Step 2
Recognition, Not a Classroom
Once your record is verified, the Master Freediver Instructor rating is awarded outright - no additional exam, no extra dives. It is PADI's way of marking out instructors who have built a genuinely substantial freediving teaching career.
