About This Course

Discover Mermaid is exactly what it sounds like: a fun, low-commitment session where you slip on a mermaid tail and monofin and find out what it actually feels like to glide through the water like one. It is designed as a taster experience, so there is no pressure to sign up for anything beyond the session itself, just a genuinely playful way to spend time in the water and see if mer-life is for you.

Under instructor guidance, you will learn the basics of moving safely and effectively in a monofin, including body undulation, breath control, and comfortable swimming technique, all built around fun rather than formal certification pressure. It is popular with families, groups, and anyone who fancies trying something a little different from standard swimming or snorkelling.

The session is open to anyone aged six or over who is in good physical health and comfortable in the water, and no previous snorkelling, skin diving, or freediving experience is needed. That makes it genuinely accessible for younger participants as well as adults looking for a novel day out.

How The Course Works

Step 1
Your Mermaid Taster
Slip on a monofin and tail in shallow, standing-depth water and let your instructor show you the basics of mermaid movement - no swimming test, no experience, no pressure. It is a flexible, enjoyable, controlled introduction, and if you love it, everything you learn counts toward the full PADI Mermaid certification path.
PADI states: minimum age 6, no prerequisites, run in confined water shallow enough to stand in, with credit toward full Mermaid certification
