What to expect

Advanced Freediver

Already comfortable holding your breath and gliding beneath the surface? Advanced Freediver turns that foundation into real depth, control and calm under pressure. Across two days of pool and open water training, you'll extend your static and dynamic apnea times and learn free immersion and constant weight diving, the disciplines serious freedivers use to descend a line with confidence, with your instructor setting personal depth and time goals that push you without overreaching.

About This Course

The Advanced Freediver course is the next step for anyone who has completed PADI Freediver training and wants to take their breath-hold diving further. Over two days of pool and open water sessions, you will refine the technique, relaxation and breathing skills that separate a comfortable freediver from a truly efficient one.

Training builds progressively through static and dynamic apnea, helping you extend your breath-hold times safely while improving your awareness of what is happening in your body under pressure. You will then move into free immersion and constant weight diving, the two disciplines most freedivers use to descend along a line with control and confidence.

Stretching, relaxation techniques and streamlining are woven throughout the course, since efficient freediving is as much about calm and technique as it is about lung capacity. Your instructor will help you set and safely work toward personal depth and time goals suited to your current experience.

By the end you will be a noticeably more capable, more relaxed freediver, with the skills and safety knowledge to keep progressing toward greater depths in a structured, buddy-supported way.

The process

How The Course Works

  1. Step 1

    Freediver eLearning

You build on your existing freediving foundation with online theory covering more advanced breath-hold technique, physiology and safety, ready to put into practice the moment you're back in the water.

  2. Step 2

    Confined Water Session

In the pool, your instructor works with you on stretching and relaxation technique, refining your static and dynamic apnea so every breath-hold becomes calmer and more controlled.

  3. Step 3

    Open Water Sessions

In open water, you progress to deeper free immersion and constant weight freedives, alongside buddy procedures and rescue technique, working steadily towards a genuinely challenging new personal best.

PADI sets a static apnea goal of 2 minutes 30 seconds (2 minutes for freedivers under 18).
