Push your technical diving into genuinely serious territory. Tec 50 Trimix extends your qualified depth range to 50 metres, introducing trimix as a bottom gas for dives well beyond standard technical training. Over two intensive days you'll plan dives requiring multiple decompression stops and manage two separate decompression gases, drilling gas switching and problem management until it becomes automatic under pressure.

About This Course

The Tec 50 Trimix course extends your technical diving qualifications to depths of 50 metres/165 feet, introducing trimix as a bottom gas for the deeper, more demanding dives that lie beyond standard technical training. Building directly on your Tec 45 Diver certification, it is a natural progression for divers serious about extended-range diving.

Training focuses on the added complexity that comes with greater depth: planning and executing dives that require multiple decompression stops, and managing two separate decompression gases during the ascent. Gas switching procedures, contingency planning and precise buoyancy control are all practised repeatedly until they become second nature under pressure.

Because dives to this depth leave far less margin for error, a significant part of the course is dedicated to problem management, from equipment failures to gas-supply issues, so you are prepared to handle the unexpected calmly and correctly.

Completed over two intensive days, Tec 50 Trimix represents one of the more advanced qualifications in recreational technical diving, opening up deeper wrecks and dive sites that are simply out of reach on air or standard nitrox.

The process

How The Course Works

Step 1
Trimix Gas Planning
You extend your Tec 50 planning to a helium-based back gas, learning to analyse and manage a trimix blend across multiple staged decompression stops. It is the same demanding profile, made more manageable by a clearer head at depth.
Step 2
Trimix Dives
You then complete your training dives on that blend, working through the full multi-gas decompression procedure within your Tec 50 depth range. It caps off the TecRec pathway with genuinely serious, genuinely rewarding diving.
Reported to allow up to 40% helium content in your back gas, within Tec 50 depth and decompression limits
