What to expect
PADI Advanced Oxygen Provider Instructor
Oxygen first aid can mean the difference between a diver walking away from a scare and a genuine emergency, and this one-day instructor course puts you in a position to teach it properly. Building on your PADI or EFR instructor status, you'll learn to teach oxygen administration for non-breathing divers and suspected decompression illness, coached hands-on by an instructor trainer who focuses as much on your presentation as the technical content.
In detail
About This Course
Oxygen first aid is one of the most important skills in the diving world, and being able to teach it properly to your own students is a valuable step for any working instructor. The Advanced Oxygen Provider Instructor course prepares you to run this training to a high, consistent standard, covering scenarios that go beyond a straightforward conscious, breathing casualty.
You will work through how to teach the administration of emergency oxygen to divers who are not breathing on their own, as well as those showing signs of decompression illness or other dive-related injuries. The emphasis throughout is on building your ability to run clear, confident, well-structured student sessions rather than just performing the skills yourself.
Training is delivered with hands-on coaching from an experienced instructor trainer, giving you practical presentation experience alongside the standards and quality assurance expectations PADI and Emergency First Response set for instructor-led courses.
This qualification is a natural fit for instructors building toward Master Scuba Diver Trainer status, and it strengthens the emergency care side of your teaching portfolio alongside your diving specialties.
The process
How The Course Works

Step 1
Built on Real Foundations
This specialty does not start from scratch - it builds directly on the EFR Primary Care and PADI Oxygen Provider training you already hold, taking your emergency response skills further into genuinely serious scenarios.
PADI states the PADI/DAN Advanced Oxygen Provider specialty builds on EFR Primary Care and PADI Oxygen Provider training.

Step 2
Certified to Teach It
You train under a Course Director qualified as an Advanced Oxygen Provider Trainer before you are authorised to run the course yourself. From there, you can pass on genuinely higher-level emergency oxygen skills to your own students, well beyond the standard oxygen provider foundation most divers only ever touch once.
PADI states PADI Instructors, Assistant Instructors or Divemasters can teach this specialty after training with a Course Director holding the Advanced Oxygen Provider Trainer qualification.
